Note: Gayā is tīrtharāja, the king of pilgrimages. To the ideal Guru-bhakta, who has one pointed devotion, śraddha, Guru is Brahma, Viṣṇu, Siva and the different places of pilgrimage like Kashi, Gaya etc. There is no tirtha or punyaksetra other than the Guru. He sees Kashi, Gaya, Mathura, Vrindavan, Vaikuntha, Moksha, everything in His own Guru. This sort of Guru Bhakti is very rare and cannot be obtained without His grace.
[internal note: Here syāt is — is, exists, comes into existence, let there is, must be. Syāt – comes from the root Sanskrit word-'asti', it is/he is, It means 'may he be' or 'may it be' (kim etat syat? What does it mean?) (http://vedabase.net/s/syat)
