Art Of The Day - Value of Life
Pencil (1 per person) Sketch Pen
Procedure: Ask each child to discuss what they value in their life a lot. Ask them the reason why they value that specific thing. Encourage the children to visualize and think about their value of life and draw that picture.
Activity 1 - Float Like Feathers
Material Required: 1. Colour Feathers
Preparation:
Give each child a feather and ask them to blow it up in the air, try to keep it up. Imagine yourself blissful like a feather, floating in the breeze and enjoying life.
Discussion: Talk about how you feel when in love - bliss. When we have so much love in our hearts, nothing will bother us. We are blissful, like a child who has no worries and trusts its parents to take care. Blissfully light like a feather. It floats on the wind and goes with the flow of things; it is open and accepts life as it comes. Because of the lack of worries, it is not weighed down, but instead dances in the wind and enjoys every breeze that comes its way
Activity 2 - Rice - Love & Anger
- Material Required: 1. 2 disposable containers with lids.
- 2. Cooked rice Permanent marker
Preparation:
Have a couple scoops of cooked rice in two containers; label them one with the word anger and one with the word love. This is a scientific experiment that shows the importance of doing everything with your words straight from your heart and how emotions affect food. It is so important to see how different emotions affect everything around us, so if food is affected so drastically, imagine the effect of our negative thoughts on our health and lives of people around us
Discussion: Take the 2 jars (keep the two separate so they aren't affected by the other) and pass them around so everyone can get a chance to put the feelings of anger and love into their respective jars. After everyone is finished, close up the jars and watch what happens. You will see a big difference in the way the 2 jars look after a few days. The one which was exposed to the emotions of anger will be spoiled more, but the one which was handled with deep love will be fine or will ferment normally
