About Infection
Infections can take place in virtually any tissue of our body. The three predominant types of infection are bacterial, fungal, and viral. The cause of infections are invading micro-organisms, which start multiplying inside the tissue, often causing tissue damage. We typically fall sick as a result of the contagious spread of these microorganisms among people. One important aspect of infections is the reaction of our bodily tissue on these invaders. In many cases the infections spreads out to other tissues. Not all infections become apparent, and often infections can go unnoticed. Common infections are Tuberculosis, STIs, HIV/AIDS, and diarrheal diseases. During the past century, many of the infections that were previously considered life threatening are now highly treatable due to the development of antibiotics which kill or inhibit the growth of microorganisms. When someone is treated with antibiotics, the cause of infection is often removed from our body very effectively.
