Significance of spiritual name🔗

At the end of the NSP, you have a choice to get your spiritual name. The new name which I gave, this spiritual name is like constantly reminding you to mother the psychological revolution which has happened in you. The new life, new understanding which happened in you, you constantly mother that. Constantly you remember it. That is why the new name. When a psychological revolution happen inside you, again and again if you remember the old name you go back to the old identity.

When somebody calls out, 'John' or 'Jill', immediately, unconsciously, the attention of John or Jill is drawn and the person looks for who is calling him or her. This is how deeply our name has been embedded in our unconscious. Your name can be a powerful technique for realizing yourself.

Another important thing is whenever somebody calls out your name, you suddenly become conscious and aware of yourself. You must have experienced a situation like you are sitting in a big classroom and suddenly, the teacher calls out your name for some reason. Whether you were dozing off or listening to the teacher, you will break from that thought pattern and you will be jolted to the present place and time.

A name has a tremendous influence over our state of mind. The spiritual name indicates the spiritual path of the individual according to its innate nature, which will lead to the ultimate flowering of the individual and actualization of its potential.

When we call out the person's name, this name, this path is constantly repeated and it enters into the very core of his or her being.

If you have the right spiritual name given by an enlightened being, that name will take you to the direct conscious depth. It will connect your mind and consciousness. It will be like a bridge for you to enter into enlightenment. It'll tell your path towards enlightenment. It'll tell how your way of life should be, how you can achieve enlightenment, how you should take care of your life.

There are thousands of ways to live. To give you the guidance, masters choose the name. Your name is like a mantra.

Let me give the definition of engram, samskara or mantra. Any word which is inscribed in your inner space which binds you, which suffocates you, which brings you down in your consciousness is samskara, engram.

Any word which is inscribed in your inner space, which liberates you, which takes you to a higher consciousness, which takes you to the more joyful, blissful state is mantra.

Mantra and samskara both are almost the same, but samskara binds you. Mantra liberates you. Mantra is the antidote for samskara. If you are named by an unconscious person, your name is a bondage.

If you are named by an enlightened being, your name is a method to liberate you. Your very name can be used as a technique to enlightenment.

You see, if at all your name can be used, that's the best thing, because the whole day from morning 'til night, either you will be using towards you or somebody will be using that name towards you. Then understand, every moment becomes a spiritual practice. If the right word from a right enlightened master is given to you as a technique, as a name, every time it is repeated you are entering into the higher consciousness. Every time you remember the meaning of it, you are in a different plane.

People come and tell me, 'The spiritual name you gave, the name itself is so beautiful. Whenever I remember that name, I am fulfilled. Whenever I remember that name with the meaning, whenever I meditate on that name, the meaning, I am just overflowing.' The name can take you to the deepest level.

One more thing, any other word is only addition to you, but your name is the center of you. Your name is the center, everything else is addition. That is why in the Vedic tradition we use only some god's name. That is why we have, for every god, 1008 names, sahasranama. Sahasranama is used for two different purposes. One, to address the gods, deities; another one, to pick up names for your kids. Our elders will try to find the name. First thing they will reference sahasranama. They will see your family deity and your nakshatra and the letter and they will reference sahasranama to find out the right name. The names is so powerful, it can take you beyond the mind.

The healing effect in the NSP

The NSP has a complete healing effect on the physical, mental and spiritual levels. People come and ask me how I do the healing through the meditation. Please understand: I do not heal. It is my presence that heals. When the sun rises, the lotus blooms by itself. The sun need not go and open the petals of the lotus. Similarly, in the presence of the master, healing happens. Be very clear that healing is not done; it happens.

I can heal your body as it is in my presence. In the same way, if you open your mind, it can be healed. In the NSP, that's what we do, opening of minds. You are asked to write for yourself about yourself, about your pains, desires, guilt and pleasures and you are not going to show these to anyone else.

People ask me why I ask people in the NSP program to write all this. Understand that you are not going to show what you write to me or anyone else. People also ask me, 'When I know all this, why I should write it down?' I tell you, by writing it all down you are opening your mind in my presence. You are opening your mind and hence I can heal your mind. If you open it, the sun can heal it. The energy heals all the wounds.

NSP is opening up your energy layers one by one. Your pains, pleasures, guilt and desires are opened up. When these open up, you experience God; not only do you search for God but experience God, since a pure mind is God itself and not something separate.

You do not relate with reality

There are seven layers of bodies. There are seven major elements in the body layers. You need to understand three things. First, thing, because of these body layers you are not relating with the reality, as it is.

All the mystics always say, 'World is god. God is everything. Whatever you see is God. Everything is God.' But we don't think everything we see is God. We always see everything as evil. We always think everyone is trying to exploit us. Everyone is trying to enter into our territory. Everyone is trying to disturb us. So what the mystics say is one thing, what you feel is totally different thing. Why do we feel in this way? Because we are not able to relate with the reality as it is.

First thing you need to understand, because you are not using these layers, they become just cancer. Whenever something is not becoming part of your being, part of your body, it becomes a separate growth. So if it does not become part of you, it naturally becomes a cancer.

Unless otherwise you express, you start living these layers; you will never have the satisfaction that you lived. Because if the major portion of your life is unlived, you will not have the satisfaction in your life - not only the spiritual life, but also the ordinary world.

The power of visualization

One more thing, we will be working with so many techniques, related to imagination, you will be asked to visualize some things. We have a very deep disrespect for visualization. We always think, oh my imagination, what can I achieve? By visualization, what can I achieve? Understand, your whole life is nothing but visualization.

The whole life is nothing but the imagination. Its like one thorn is removed by another thorn. If one thorn enters your leg, you take another thorn and remove it, with the help of this thorn. Same way, you have so many imaginations which have entered in you, without your knowledge, without your consciousness. Same way now, the conscious imaginations are going to enter into you, to do the process, to do the work. So whenever meditation instructions are given, just put your total energy into it.
