Nithya Yoga is for You

When the level of energy is low in a native, swimming can energize his or her whole body. Otherwise, gentle yoga postures that work on the anāhata cakra, as well as Sūrya Namaskār(the ancient sun salutation), can be practiced by all natives!

Uṣṭrāsana :

Instructions:

  • To blissfully enjoy the benefits of any āsana, make sure your body is warmed up, the spine loosened up and stretched out before entering the postures.
  • Kneel in an upright position with your knees separated about hip width apart.
  • Place your hands on your lower back with the fingers pointing downward.
  • Inhale, lift your heart and allow your head to gently relax back.
  • Exhale, push the hips forward, so the hips are out past your knees.
  • If you are a beginning student, remain in this position. If you are more advanced, you can grab your heels, placing your thumbs on the outside of the heels, fingers on the inside. Continue to push the hips forward from there, at the same time lifting the heart toward the ceiling.
  • Hold this position for 6 breaths.
  • To come out of the posture, place the hands, one at a time, on the lower back, and then only,
  • gently roll back up.

Benefits:

This posture gives a complete rotary movement to the entire vertebral column, and works on the digestive power which planet Mars represents. It can lead one to complete inner transformation by giving an experience of no-mind state.
