Bauls - people of pure Love
August 14, 2010
Today I will share one truth from the tradition of the Baul Mystics. The Vedic tradition has many living streams of enlightened Masters. Many streams have dried. The streams which have living enlightened Masters, an unbroken lineage of living enlightened Masters are Vedanta, Aghori, Tantra, and Bauls.
The Baul Mystics are not well known as a mainstream tradition, just because of their habit of not having property. They are not centered in one place. Otherwise, they have all the qualifications to be respected as a living stream of enlightened Masters. ```
The Bauls have a strong feeling that the moment you start staying in one place, the corruption starts happening. They say NO to social hypocrisy, which keeps you away from enlightenment.
The main theme which runs through the Baul tradition is pure love toward everything that exists: to the river, hill, sun, moon, plants, tree, animals, and to themselves.
Whatever exists, they flood it with love.
That is why they are not socially accepted - because they are such a joyful species!
I can say Bauls are actually a different species altogether; one of the most endangered species on planet Earth. Bauls are literally like butterflies. They happen, fly, spread color and then just disappear. Nothing else.
Three kinds of satsang
August 17, 2010
If I have to define satsanga, I can define it in three ways.
The ultimate satsanga is being with the Sat, your own atman or Self, and being in an unclutched state. Whenever you are unable to be in this space, then the second level satsanga is to be with the words of a person who constantly drives you towards the Sat, the truth, and who is constantly reminding you to be unclutched.
Satsanga directly leads you to jeevanmukti, living enlightenment.
Please understand, read the books that tell you not to waste your time in just reading books! Listen to the words of a person who constantly reminds you not to waste your time in listening to words. Be with the words of a person who constantly tells you to go beyond words. Be with the Being who reminds you to be in your Being; that is, be in the Master's presence.
Please understand, the brahmi bee makes a worm into a bee just by the sound, the teachings. The hen makes the egg into chicken by the physical presence and touch, initiation. The crocodile, tortoise and fish hatch their eggs just by remembrance! The Master hatches you through all these three.
The first level is through his teachings and words. The second level is through his initiation and touch. Then wherever you are, constantly you are connected to him. You remember him and he goes on remembering you. Through constant remembrance of you wherever you are, he hatches you into a new being. He makes you into his very Self.
