Live every moment intensely
08 October, 2010
Can time make you intense? Yes, time can make you intense. The remembrance about the importance of the time can make you intense in every step.
Make this decision at every moment, wherever you are: I have to be here at this time, so why not be intense? Every morning, you are spending one hour doing puja. That time is only for
puja. So decide*, I will be intensely in samadhi for that one hour. There is no other work for that one hour; I cannot do anything else. It has already been decided. So why waste that time?*
Same way - Every morning at this time, I have to be doing yoga and weight-training, so why not do it intensely, using heavier weights? Why waste this time?
Or - Every day, I am going to eat two or three times a day. Why waste that time; why not be more aware when I am eating?
The remembrance of time can make you live intensely. Whether as a concept or as an understanding, when time enters into you, it makes you intense. Remember the concept of time when you are sitting here and listening. You have to be sitting here anyway till I finish my session, so why not sit with complete awareness, so that you will receive the whole benefit intensely?! You have to do puja, you have to do yoga, you have to take bath twice a day and you have to sleep. Just bring intensity to these actions which are inevitable in your life, that's all. Tell yourself, I have to be here at this time, so why not be intense? This will naturally make you perfect in the outer world.
Yogaha karmasu kouchalam, which means, Yoga is perfection in action, will happen in you because you decided that you have to be here for the next one hour doing Guru puja, so why do it lousily*? Let me chant the mantra intensely, let me be aware intensely, let me be fully alive intensely. This makes yogaha karmasu kouchalam* become a reality for you. If you are supposed to sit in the office for eight hours, why just be an
ordinary engineer or a clerk for the next ten years? Why not be intense and rise up the ladder? It means that with the understanding about time, you bring intensity to your outer world and experience success in your outer world life.
The concept of time brings intensity to you. When you understand the concept of time, when you understand the boundary of past and present, it makes you passionate. When you understand that there is no boundary of past and present, it makes you passive. Both are blessings.
Even if you understand just the boundary of past and future, that understanding will lead you to the experience of boundariless time. If it makes you passionate, you will achieve outer-world success; if it makes you passive, you will achieve inner-world success. So through passion becoming passive, and through passion patience will happen. Both are blessings.
