Love at first sight is a mental disorder!
Question: Is there such a thing as love at first sight? I think I am in love with a person I met once, but I am not sure if this is infatuation or love.
There is such a thing as love at first sight, but it is a mental disorder!
If you are falling in love at first sight, you have a special disorder.
As per Yogic psychology, it is a mental disorder. You need to get out of the problem.
Suppose you watch a horror movie one night, and you are walking back home all alone. On the way home, a small sound is enough to make you shiver! Every tree looks like a ghost.
When you are filled with the thoughts from the horror movie, a small leaf shaking is enough for you to shiver.
In the same way, when you are empty within, when you are hollow within, love at first sight happens. When you are too poor inside, you are just begging for attention, and you think that you are in love with any person who is ready to give you some attention.
Understand, whenever love at first sight happens, the person is very poor in his inner space. Attention seeking is inner poverty.
If you are falling in love at first sight, you are empty within. You are just waiting for a boy to smile, for a girl to smile, and you fall. All the fellows who fall in love at first sight have a very weak inner space.
But when it comes to the Guru-disciple relationship, believe only in love at first sight! Because you should be craving so much, that the moment you see him, you fall in love. If that is not there, please understand, he is not your Guru. Please move on.
Only when you have that intense craving, the moment you see him, you know, 'Yes, this is the one I have been looking for my whole life.'
If the love at first sight happens in the spiritual realm, you are immensely rich in your inner space.
Seeking is inner richness. When you connect with a Guru at the first sight, you have a very strong inner space. You have the right depth for love at first sight.
Understanding aloneness
March 10, 2012
Question: I always understood Spirituality as a path of aloneness. But you always ask us to share these great truths and our experiences with other people. When we share and talk, are we not moving away from the path of aloneness and engaging ourselves in the useless network of relationships of the materialistic world? Why is it important to share with other people when I can just remain in bliss, being in aloneness and ultimately merge into you?
You don't have the right understanding of aloneness.
'I can remain in bliss without anyone' – you cannot. You will be depressed.
Understand, your aloneness is more like a fear of relating with people.
Aloneness is not living without anybody. No! It is the ability to live with yourself. The ability to keep yourself inspired without any the need for anything from outside is aloneness.
Real aloneness is being able to relate with and inspire everybody, and being able to relate with yourself and inspire yourself whenever you want.
You are not just living inside your body. Only 33% of you is living inside your body. You are living with people. Imagine what you will feel if suddenly all the people living around you are dead and you are just there alone? Are you going to live happily?
Sharing with others is nothing but creating an enlightenment-based community around you. It is not even serving others; it is serving yourself.
Human beings first create the biology-based community – the family. Then, when you evolve, you create a psychology-based community – like your friends, who are ideologically connected to you. Only a few create consciousness-based communities around them.
Fools are those who create just a biological community around them. Great are those who create an ideological community around them. Blessed are those who create a consciousness-based community around them!
If you have a sangha around you, you are blessed. You have someone with whom to share the spiritual truths, the great experiences of life. The greatest joy is in creating consciousness-based community, sangha.
