Catch the Moment!

Spontaneous Meditations

Spontaneous meditations are not formal techniques, but very effective pop-up signs that draw your awareness again and again to each fleeting glimpse of no-mind that you constantly experience. These meditations cannot be planned.

The situation or emotion or revelation just has to happen.

You can't practice these techniques. You can only be available, open to them whenever they happen.

The way to catch the moment is simple: be aware at all times! You never know where a satori is waiting for you.

Understand, we are continuously experiencing the space of pure consciousness, but our mind always cleverly jumps the gap.

With awareness, you can catch the moment, you can 'fall into the gap'.

The more you consciously experience these glimpses, the more your awareness dwells in the gaps between events, between thoughts.

Each glimpse is like drilling a hole on the surface of a frozen pond. When you walk on the surface, it looks as if the whole pond is solid ice, but if you once fall into a hole, you realize that the pond is all water, and the ice is only on the surface.

In the same way, you begin to see that what you experience as 'gaps' or holes are actually the single underlying reality, unbroken by the outer-world and inner-world events that are shifting and moving on the surface.

In the middle of a fall, just as the body is falling to the ground, become aware! Thought-lessness.

In that moment of shock, the mind stops for a moment. When mind stops, Truth is revealed.

When your gaze is withdrawn form one object, but not yet fixed on another; in the interval, glimpse Emptiness.

When traveling fast in a vehicle which suddenly stops, the body is thrown forward and the breath stops in fear. At this moment, you fall into your Center!

**When the senses are temporarily cut off through an illness* use the chance and be absorbed Within!**

**(even a bad cold will do!)*

When anger surges up against another visualize the other as absent! The emotion returns upon itself As pure Energy!

When touched or touching a beloved one, mind dissolves in delight! Experience sheer Bliss.

Picking up a hand-mirror the wrong way, seeing only an opaque surface where you thought to see your face! Realize you are faceless.

At a moment when everything fails and the mind can find no solution: In such an impasse experience no-mind!

LEAP BEFORE YOU LOOK!

Looking long into a deep well without blinking, all thoughts fall away. Become emptiness witnessing emptiness.

Hearing the news of a tragedy all other thoughts flee the mind! Withdrawing the mind from that one thought, enter into Silence.

On the dark, lonely path a soft noise behind you! Fear consumes the mind - Suddenly you are thought-less!

Swaying gently on a swing, body moves; mind stops. Experience stillness.

In sudden, uproarious laughter Where is the mind to think? Enjoy the space of bliss!

When suddenly asked to view a scene on the horizon, even as your eye spans that distance a few moments of not-knowing. This is satori.

When listening, drop the words and hear the silence between! Experience That which is always there.

In the middle of a sneeze, be aware: no mind!
