Care for Achromatopsia

Achromatopsia (ACHM) typically refers to the inability to interpret color and achieve visual acuity in situations of high light levels, such as exterior daylight. This syndrome shows symptoms that relate to at least five separate disorders. It typically refers to a congenital color vision disorder, but can also refer to color agnosia and cerebral achromatopsia, both acquired disorders. A common trait of achromatopsia is called hemeralopia; blindness in full sun. Other classifications include dyschromatopsia, amblyopia, and nystagmus.

Achromatopsia is usually first noticed by photophobic activity or nystagmus (uncontrolled oscillatory eye movements) in children around six months of age. Nystagmus normally becomes less noticeable with age, but the other symptoms become more pronounced as school age approaches. Acuity of vision and eye stability generally improves during the first 6–7 years of life. The congenital forms of achromatopsia, however, are considered stationary and do not worsen with age.

END OF KRIYA

Long sightedness/farsightedness results in difficulty seeing objects close up. This can result from either of two conditions, hyperopia or presbyopia. Although the symptoms are similar (for example, difficulty seeing in low light, focusing on small print and blurred vision) the causes are different.

In hyperopia, which can affect individuals at any age, the eyeball may be too short or the shape of the lens may be altered. Hence the light which enters the eye cannot focus on the retina and the images focuses on a point behind the retina.

Presbyopia usually affects individuals in old age and may be caused by the lens hardening with age, and thus losing its elasticity. Longsightedness is generally treated by wearing reading glasses.

Care for Short-Sightedness

Myopia or "short-sightedness" is a refractive defect of the eye in which incoming light focuses in front of the retina, rather than directly on the retina. When looking at a distant object, this causes the image to be out of focus, whereas ther is normal focus when one looks at an object up close. In extreme cases, however, even close up vision is affected and glasses are required.
