Ohio Prayag - The 'Prayag' of the West
The Temple is located in a beautiful, natural setting with two rivers flowing on its property: the Olentangy River and a creek which flows into the river. THE SUPREME PONTIFF OF HINDUISM BHAGAWAN SRI NITHYANANDA PARAMASHIVAM declared the confluence of these two waterways the 'Prayag of the West' or Pashcim Prayag and gave the temple the spiritual name - 'Ohio Prayag.' During the U.S. Kumbh Mela of April 15, 2007, Swamiji said that the confluence of these two water streams was similar to the Prayag in Bharat, and the direction of the flow was matched by that of three sacred rivers (triveni sangam) - Ganga, Yamuna and Sarasvati.
Because of it's scenic beauty and the the peacefulness of the river, the temple is reminiscent of Lord Shiva's abode Kailash and the Himalayas.
